Pre-Columbian, Peru, Proto Nazca, Huari, Chancay, Chimu, and Inca cultures, ca. 500 BCE to 1533 CE. A lovely gathering of 6 colorful textile fragments as well as a coca bag, all comprised of tightly woven cotton or camelid wool fibers in polychrome hues. First is a Proto Nazca strip with 6 ovoid protrusions lining a colorful body that terminates in a braided tassel. Next is a slender Huari strip with abstract eye-form motifs within pink, blue, yellow, and green rectangles. The Chancay textiles include a panel fragment with abstract red and yellow motifs; an L-shaped fragment with abstract fish and anthropomorphs; and a circular artifact with threads twisted around slender wooden rods. The largest piece is a Chimu scarf or burial linen with a brown body lined on the ends with spirals and abstract birds. The Inca coca bag features a pair of pouches that can be worn like a vest via two thick shoulder straps. Size of largest (Chancay scarf): 72.5" L x 15" W (184.2 cm x 38.1 cm)

Condition
All pieces except coca bag are fragments of larger compositions as shown; coca bag is intact and very good. All pieces except coca bag have losses, loosening, and fraying to some interior and peripheral fibers, with light fading to thread colors, and minor staining in some scattered areas. Nice preservation to decorative motifs overall.
