Northeastern Europe, Russia, Migration Period, Finno-Ugric / Proto-Viking / Viking Rus, ca. 5th to 8th century CE. This is a fine collection of 7 bronze beads or pendants, 6 of which are cast in a similar form: coiled and threaded rod-shaped body studded with spherical or open work balls at regular intervals. The seventh bead is a lozenge shape with a perforation through the center for suspension. Most of the pendants have integral suspension loops on one tip to string as individual pieces or as part of a larger necklace. All are made from a high-tin copper alloy common to this region and time that gives their green patina a lustrous shine. Size of largest: 2.25" L x 0.6" W (5.7 cm x 1.5 cm); smallest: 1" L x 0.25" W (2.5 cm x 0.6 cm)
