Native American, Southwestern United States, New Mexico & Arizona, Anasazi / Hohokam culture, ca. 1100 to 1400 CE. A collection of 53 stone arrowheads and 2 small curved shell and stone ornaments or tools. The arrowheads are knapped from a variety of matte chert, glassy obsidian, and quartz stones. Many different types are included in this collection. The main forms seen here are Hohokam types, which have a serrated blade; Cottonwood, that have a flat and triangular point without notches or a neck; and Besant, which is a classic arrowhead shape with double notches to create small shoulders. Additional styles are Rose Springs, Eastgate, Sacaton, Gila Butte, Desert Redding Variety, Toyah, Santa Cruz, and Desert General Variety. In the top corner is a white shell with a narrow and curved profile, and a small black stone that is also slightly curved. These pieces may have been part of ornaments or other tools.
