Pre-Columbian, North Coast of Peru, Chavin, ca. 900 to 500 BCE; Ecuador, Manabi Province, Bahia culture, ca. 500 to 100 BCE; Valley of Mexico, Teotihuacan, ca. 3rd to 7th century CE; Gulf Coast of Mexico, northern Veracruz region, Huastec culture, ca. 600 to 900 CE. An interesting ensemble of hand-built pottery figures from across various regions of the ancient Pre-Columbian world. First is a slender Chavin figure of abstract form with linear features incised across the face and body. Next is a petite Teotihuacan figure with attenuated legs and arms and hemispherical nodules applied to the sides of the head. Next is a Guangala twin-headed pottery bird whistle with smooth surfaces and incised surface decorations. The largest figure is a Bahia figure that stands atop a pair of conical legs and bears an enormous nose and coffee bean-shaped eyes. Last is a petite Huastec figure with slanted eyes and a massive headdress. Size of largest (Bahia standing figure): 2" W x 4.1" H (5.1 cm x 10.4 cm)

Condition
Repairs to Chavin figure and both standing figures, with visible adhesive residue along break lines; Huastec figure and bird whistle are intact and very good. Each piece has minor abrasions and light encrustations commensurate with age. Nice earthen deposits throughout.
