Greece, Geometric Period, ca. 8th to 6th Century BCE. This is a fine collection of 4 bronze oinochoe or pitcher-shaped amulets. Each is mold cast with a rounded, piriform body, a ring or conical base, a slender, elongated neck, and a petite handle. These oinochoai are formed into vessels but lack openings, and were likely used as effigy amulets or pendants; the handles could serve as suspension loops to wear these juglets as pendants. A rich green-blue patina covers the lustrous surface of each oinochoe! Size of largest: 1" L x 0.6" W (2.5 cm x 1.5 cm); smallest: 0.75" L x 0.25" W (1.9 cm x 0.6 cm)
