Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A wonderful quartet of 4 faience amulets in the form of the Sons of Horus, all enveloped in a brilliant azure glaze and displaying 2-dimensional forms. Each is mummiform and shown in profile, with a head denoting which son he is, and a drilled hole for an eye and at the heel, the latter presumably for suspension. Remains of black paint on 3 of them. The 4 Sons of Horus are Duamutef who is of jackal form, Imsety who is human, Hapi who is of baboon form, and Qebehsenuef who is of falcon form. Horus' sons were charged with protecting the internal organs of mummies, as they had originally been charged with protecting the body of Osiris; as a result, their heads often form the lids of canopic jars. Size (of largest): 0.6" W x 2.8" H (1.5 cm x 7.1 cm)

Condition
Loss to upper body of Imsety. Duamutef has foot reattached with break lines visible. All have expected nicks and pitting, commensurate with age. Otherwise, all are excellent with impressive remaining glaze.
