- Lot Description
North America, United States, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A wonderful collection of 4 pottery vessels: 3 pitchers and 1 bowl. All 3 pitchers feature corseted necks, flared rims, pinched spouts, ribbon-form handles, and flat bases. Enveloped in a lustrous russet-hued glaze, the largest vessel presents a bulbous body, while the most petite pitcher exhibits a similar form with convex walls covered in a shiny, black glaze. Alternatively, the third pitcher displays a tubular body and is glazed with a rich shade of ochre. A petalled flower flanked by 2 leaves is painted on the front of the body. Last, the bowl or planter sits upon a ring-form foot with a voluminous body and folded rim, all embellished by an elegant relief decoration of holly and phytomorphic designs known as Mccoy Jardiniere, all painted with a seafoam green glaze. Size of largest: 8.4" Diameter x 7.9" H (21.3 cm x 20.1 cm)
