North America, ca. millions of years ago. This is a fine trio of gorgeous tiger's eye stone pieces - each cut and polished. Tiger or tiger's eye is a type of chatoyant quartz gemstone that has a stunning coloration. Their planar faces show off the stunning graining and parallel crystals that create the chatoyancy, or "cat eye effect," the optical reflective quality. Throughout the matrix are veins and striations of parallel, blue formed from asbestos (crocidolite), and the oxidation of the iron composition results in the brown, honey tones of tiger eye. Size longest: 1.5" L x 0.25" W x 4.6" H (3.8 cm x 0.6 cm x 11.7 cm); smallest piece: 1.25" L x 0.25" W x 3.3" H (3.2 cm x 0.6 cm x 8.4 cm)
