Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. An intriguing gathering of 3 ovoid amulets: 2 scaraboid amulets formed from faience, and 1 scarab carved from stone. The first scaraboid amulet is in the form of a traditional Mesopotamian duck weight with the bird's head facing backwards and resting on its back. The underside features a Hathoric head flanked with a pair of uraeus cobras. The second, green-hued scaraboid features a human head in front of a beehive-style coiffure on the topside and a quartet of petite hieroglyphs on the bottom. The largest amulet is a stone scarab with two rows of hieroglyphs on the bottom next to a Hathor-headed mirror. Size of largest (scarab): 0.75" L x 0.55" W (1.9 cm x 1.4 cm)
