Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima and Colima Autlan, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A lovely set of 3 hand-built pottery figures of characteristically flat forms. The first two figures are a male and female that hold petite puppies in their arms as they peer forward with coffee-bean-shaped eyes. The tallest figure, of the Colima Autlan type, is a female who dons an incised skirt, bicep bangles, and a beaded necklace while sporting incised eyes beneath a cap with lengthy lappets. Colima Autlan figure has repair to head at neckline and proper right arm along shoulder blade, with small chips and very light adhesive residue along break lines; two figures holding puppies are intact and very good. All figures have light encrustations, minor abrasions, and small chips to bodies or limbs. Nice preservation to overall forms and facial features.
