Pre-Columbian, Northern Peru, Chavin, ca. 1200 to 500 BCE; Central Coast Peru, Moche, ca. 200 to 800 CE; Central Coast Peru, Huari (Wari), ca. 500 to 1000 CE. A fine gathering of three hand-carved stone figures from 3 distinct ancient Peruvian cultures. The chocolate brown Moche figure is of a squat form and stands upon delineated feet, wears a V-neck shirt and flat cap, and has incised almond eyes flanking a prominent nose. The Chavin figure depicts a seated jaguar - with bent limbs and a bulbous head - carved from hardstone in strawberry and cream hues. The largest figure is of Huari origin and depicts an abstract anthropomorphic figure, standing upon nubbin legs, and exhibiting a minimalist visage. Size of largest (Huari): 1.2" W x 2.5" H (3 cm x 6.4 cm)
