(Shand-Tucci, D; Cheek, R (2001) "Harvard University: An Architectural Tour." Princeton Architectural Press: 2017, p. 188.) Today, concerts and lectures take place in Sander's Theatre within the building, and Harvard freshman enjoy meals in Annenberg Hall (previously Alumni Hall) across the hall. Europe, Germany, Mettlach / Villeroy and Boch, designed by Miller & Ackerman. Ca. 1903. Mettlach Catalog No. 2872. A glazed stoneware beer stein created for Cornell University students, marked "Made exclusively for Rothschild Bros., Ithaca, N.Y., U.S.A. Designed by W. M. Miller .. F. L. Ackerman" on the underside of the base. The walls of the vessel are inscribed with the text, "It's always fair weather when good fellows get together. Cornell, I yell, yell Cornell." The stein also features lovely scenes depicting the campus.
The Mettlach factory is located on the Saar River in western Germany, close to borders with Luxembourg and France, and housed on the grounds of a former Benedictine Abbey that dates to the 10th century. Interestingly, Johann Franz Boch-Buschmann founded this factory on this site in 1809, and the Villeroy & Boch company resulted from a merger with Nicolas Villeroy in 1836.
Finally, a 19th century German porcelain beer stein honoring a military regiment decorated with dramatic battle scenes and inscriptions.
