Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A wonderful ensemble of 24 ear spools, all skillfully hand-carved from white and black shells, and 1 bead, carefully sculpted from greenstone. The lovely earspools present in various sizes and breadths with 23 displaying ring-shaped forms with flared peripheries and 1 in the shape of a concave tube, showing flat, circular faces at each end, 1 incised with a geometric design. Although ring-shaped, 3 also exhibit flat faces, each at one end, though none show clear decoration. Alternatively, the greenstone bead presents a flat, circular form with an annular drill hole for suspension. Size (of largest): 1.625" in diameter x 0.625" W (4.1 cm x 1.6 cm)
