W.C. Shotts (American 1937 - 2009), ca. 1986, "#1". An incredibly creative opal carved cameo sculpture of a Native American man in profile with coral, and nacre shell ornaments by William C. Shotts. The profile is cut from a thick slab of natural opal within the original stone matrix. The man faces left, his loose hair flowing back over his neck with a feather ornament made of nacre shell and coral set into his locks. The opal is a milky white displaying a gorgeous natural color play of lilac and periwinkle blue with iridescent green that contrasts well against the brown matrix. The piece is initialed and dated by the artist with the series number just below the bust. Size: 3.5" L x 2.5" W x 3.5" H (8.9 cm x 6.4 cm x 8.9 cm)
