North America, United States, ca. mid-20th century CE. A group of 3 brass & leaded bronze stamp plates used for embossing into leather the likeness of iconic western TV and movie characters- Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Gene Autry, and William Conrad as Matt Dillon. The longest bronze plate created bill folds or wallets with Roy and Dale, the husband / wife duo, posing with Trigger, and the "RR" emblem within a scroll and floral motif. The Gene Autry plate features the "Singing Cowboy" with his horse, Champion, and the last plate has "Gunsmoke" star William Conrad as the Marshall Matt Dillon loading his gun and riding his horse, Buck, in the background. Fans could purchase memorabilia such as wallets, belts, gun holsters, and other leather items stamped with these beloved film stars and their riders. Some neigh-sayers may say otherwise, but the horses were arguably the best characters and stunt actors of these shows; Champion even received equal billing as the star and was above the leading ladies on movie posters! Size (Roy plate): 8.75" L x 3.5" W (22.2 cm x 8.9 cm)
