Native American, Pacific Northwest Coast, ca. 20th century CE. Signed "CHESLEY WILLIAM" on verso. A wonderful hand-carved wood totem sitting upon an integral plinth and adorned in hues of scarlet, forest green, and black. The fascinating sculpture presents 2 eagles sitting atop one another, both with tucked wings, large, ovoid eyes beneath arched brows, prominent feet, and pointed beaks. The top eagle is capped with a conical headdress, while a stylized, rectangular face is shown between the 2 animals. A petite zoomorphic creature displaying huge eyes and short frontal claws is exhibited at the bottom of the piece. Size: 3.75" L x 3.25" W x 12.875" H (9.5 cm x 8.3 cm x 32.7 cm)
