Native American, southwestern United States, Navajo, ca. mid to late 20th century CE, signed by Thomas Tso (Native American, Dine / Navajo). A stylish sterling silver and turquoise concha belt with a leather band made by the silversmith Thomas Tso. His initials "TT" are stamped on the verso of the belt buckle. Along the length are 12 medallions made from 92% to 93% silver with scalloped edges and Sleeping Beauty turquoise stones set in the center of each slightly convex face. Between each medallion are bowtie shaped silver ornaments. All silver pieces have a copper loop welded on the back for the leather strap to pass through. This belt is wearable as is with a pin buckle and multiple piercings through the leather to adjust the length. Cracking and fraying of leather, especially around smaller belt holes with additional holes added for size adjustments. Cleanable patina on silver areas. Wearable as shown. Leather band could be replaced.
