- Lot Description
Native American, Southwestern United States, New Mexico, Santa Fe, Navajo, ca. mid-20th to 21st century CE. This is a fine pair of necklaces made of turquoise, heishi shells, and spherical sterling silver beads. The first necklace was commissioned by Peyote Bird, a Santa Fe, New Mexico based company that specializes in handcrafted artisan jewelry from Native American and other international artists. The turquoise beads are cut into seed shapes and strung on a wire with a sterling silver chain and lobster clasp to adjust the length. The other necklace has a hook clasp, and the length is symmetrically strung with brown heishi beads, 5 turquoise nuggets, and 10 spherical silver beads dispersed along the center. Both necklaces are wearable and in fine condition. Size of Peyote Bird necklace: 15.5" L (39.4 cm); beads: 0.125" W (0.3 cm); heishi shell necklace: 17" L (43.2 cm); turquoise nuggets: 0.65" L x 0.5" W (1.7 cm x 1.3 cm); silver quality: 92%
