Northwestern Europe, England, ca. late 20th century CE. This is a gorgeous cast 77% (equivalent to 18k) gold signet ring with an ovoid armorial seal and the motto "Par Coeur" or "By Heart," to mean "committed to memory." The motto is engraved in reverse within a banner along the lower edge, and above is the double face of Janus as a bearded man crowned in a laurel wreath within an escutcheon. Atop the shield is a helmet with a rearing horned ram crest. The thick signet face is supported by a broad shoulder and thick band. The interior is stamped with hallmarks including the makers mark "DSE," crown, leopard head city mark for London, 750 gold purity, and a date letter mark. This ring is in near perfect condition and wearable, the reverse motto lettering is also ideal for signing wax seals for any romantic or clandestine correspondences as well!
