North America, United States, ca. early to mid-20th century. This is a pair of ebony wood and nickel-brass clarinets. The larger is a standard B-flat that comes with a nickel mouthpiece cover and stamped "HPB" on the bell, as well as the lower and upper joints by an unknown maker. The other clarinet is an E-flat and is the second smallest size of the standard clarinets, allowing this instrument to carry a higher pitch than the larger B-clarinets. This example is similarly constructed with ebony wood joints and nickel brass keys. The mouthpiece is marked "BRUNO / ROYAL ARTIST," and may not be original to this instrument. Size (E-flat): 19" L x 2.5" W (48.3 cm x 6.4 cm); (B-flat): 26" L x 3" W (66 cm x 7.6 cm)
