Near East, Israel, ca. 20th century CE. A stunning wearable gold pendant comprised of two pieces; an upper part presenting as an upside-down triangle connected to the bottom by a loop and a lower piece in the form of a symmetrical abstract shape with 9 points, appearing almost badge-like. The top piece of this remarkable accessory is comprised of 20 karat gold, folded over to create a hollow shape and adorned with a central circular garnet stone of a vibrant red-violet hue between two embossed gold dots and on top of a golden spiral motif and below a petit gold sphere. Size: 1.625" W x 2.375" H (4.1 cm x 6 cm); Chain: 22.5" L (57.2 cm); Weight: 19.1 grams
The lower piece is embellished with a lovely 18 karat gold border decorated with an abstract curvilinear design with embossed gold dots on each of its 9 points around a 13 karat gold body featuring an ovoid carnelian stone inscribed on one side with a verse from when Jacob is blessing his sons in Genesis 49:22 in Hebrew and on the other with a word in Arabic. The Hebrew verse is often used by Kabbalists (Jewish mystics) while donning ritual garb. A dazzling and mysterious piece sure to turn heads! Gold quality: the top piece is 83% gold (equivalent to 20 karat); the bottom border is 78% gold (equivalent to 18 karat); the body of the bottom is 56% gold (equivalent to 13 karat)
