Nano Lopez (Colombian, b. ) "Tracy (The Fast)" bronze sculpture, 2015 AND a hand-signed giclee on canvas study for this subject. Signature, date, and edition number 96/880 stamped. Nano Lopez's "Bobby" is a mesmerizing bronze sculpture of an endearing tortoise entitled "Tracy (The Fast)" sporting a pair of goggles and a checkered scarf. Lopez's technique combines traditional and innovative methods. The piece was created via the traditional lost wax process that originated in ancient Greece and Rome. Once the bronze was cast, Lopez added countless details via metal chasing, applied patinas to imbue the work with vibrant colors, and finally applied several coats of UV protective lacquer to both enhance and preserve the patina. According to Nano Lopez, "The transformation from clay to bronze has always been magical to me." (artist's website) One of Lopez's most captivating designs, replete with impressive artistry and technique, accompanied by a signed giclee of "Tracy (The Fast)". Size: 5.875" L x 3" W x 5.125" H (14.9 cm x 7.6 cm x 13 cm) Size: 8" L x 5.5" W x 2.75" H (20.3 cm x 14 cm x 7 cm)
Nano Lopez has created amusing narratives for many of his sculptures, bringing their personalities to life. In Lopez's words, "Tracy (The Fast) was briefly seen yesterday afternoon crossing the pasture field south of town, while nobody had long enough time to clearly see her face, Tracy is well known all around town, for her great enthusiasm, being amazingly fast and unparalleled generosity. Always bringing water to those in need." In addition, Lopez embellishes his "Nanimals" with numbers, letters, and roadsigns imbuing them with even more pizzazz.
