Central Asia, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, Turkoman (Turkman) Tekke peoples, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful pair of cast high-quality silver (98% silver) bracelets with crescent-shaped profiles, seven prongs lining either terminal, and applied pointillist and geometric motifs on the peripheries and faces. Four ovoid, red-hued glass panels are inlaid within similarly-shaped bezels on the obverse faces, and atop them are abstract, two-headed creatures with a mutual circular body and triangular heads. A thin layer of 6K gilding surrounds the inlaid glass panels and bulb-shaped areas above each prong, giving the bracelets a striking polychrome presentation. Size of each (both are relatively similar): 2.875" W x 2.3" H (7.3 cm x 5.8 cm); size of wrist opening (at widest point): 2.375" W (6 cm); quality of silver: 98%; quality of gold: 6K; total weight: 275.5 grams.
