Central Asia, Tibet or China, late 19th to early 20th century CE. This is a lovely and high quality 91.5% to 92.2% silver box with a hinged lid and a loop for suspension. The box has a rounded and lobbed exterior - each lobe is decorated with raised and etched scrolling floral motifs along the exteriors. The lid opens to reveal the interior and the exterior suspension loop is threaded on a modern cord. This is a fine container that probably had a ritualistic use or held valuable items. Indentation, perforation and abrasions to the right exterior lobe, this area is infilled with adhesive. Pin for hinge is a newer replacement, and lid has a perforation just above hinge area. Interior has a heavy russet patina. Strung on a modern cord.
