This rabbit coconut grater is carved from a dense hardwood to depict a recumbent rabbit, boasting a rich, deep burgundy finish. The bunny presents laid back ears, inlaid translucent glass eyes, well-defined feet, an inscription incised on both sides of its face, and a metal grater emerging from his mouth. What makes this rabbit grater even more special is the plinth below and platform upon its back - both carved with decorative geometric motifs. While in a recumbent position, this bunny appears as if he is about to hop across the room, his perky tail bopping all the way! A refined work of culinary art from Southeast Asia, traditionally used in the preparation of delectable curries and desserts. Nice patina from age and use.
