Native American, Western United States, Plains Tribes, Lakota (Sioux) or Arapaho, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A pair of armbands crafted from supple rawhide, adorned with seed beads sewn with sinew threads, and paired with dangling cotton strands completely covered in beading and finished with yarn tassels. Worn on the upper arm, these armbands served both as ornamentation and as markers of group affiliation, rank, or status. Size: 22" L x 1.25" W (55.9 cm x 3.2 cm)

Losses to beading along the peripheries of the main cuff band, with fraying and losses to threads. One band has a repair with black threads. Leather is stained and discolored as expected with age and use, but still somewhat supple.
