East Asia, Japanese, late Edo to Meiji period, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A tranquil landscape painting beautifully painted in ink and paper with a horizontal orientation of trees and cranes. The artist's seals are stamped in red ink on the left and right sides of the painting. The red crowned cranes are flocking across the sky and ground under green pines and blossoming trees. The white plumage and red crests contrast nicely against the sepia background. The painting is set on a white paper that frames the scene. Size of painting: 51" L x 13.5" W (129.5 cm x 34.3 cm); size of scroll sheet: 52.25" L x 18" W (132.7 cm x 45.7 cm)
