Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Bali, ca. 19th century CE. A hand-carved wooden weaving shuttle with a stocky central body, a carved-out central cavity, as well as a pair of duck-bill-shaped terminals. The central cavity bears a pair of drilled spool holes on the interior duck bill walls, and a third hole is situated on one lateral side. Large shuttles like this example were used to create sizable textile compositions. Size: 19.6" L x 1.4" W (49.8 cm x 3.6 cm); 2.75" H (7 cm) on included custom stand.
