Western Europe, France, Sarreguemines, ca. 1868 to 1919 CE. An elegant porcelain tureen vessel with a domed lid and painted motifs. The body rests on a flared foot and the concave base is stamped with a black maker mark: "OPAQUE DE SARREGUEMINES" surrounding a crest of a crown and shield. A second stamp, likely a British import mark, is stamped onto of the crest: "MADE IN FRANCE / 6003." The sides swell outward and have flanking handles on both sides. The surface is white with green laurel wreathes painted across the shoulder and handles. The lid is decorated with molded oak leaves just under the ring handle. Three rings of orange and green encircle and border the register of laurel wreaths. The underside has a small lip that fits flush inside the vessel. Size: 10.5" W x 10" H (26.7 cm x 25.4 cm)

Fair condition. Some odor from storage. Surface discoloration and dark coloration as shown to exterior and heavier on the interior. Stable hairline cracks on lid and body. Nice craquelure. Stamped mark is slightly smudged but mostly discernable.
