Central Europe, Italy, Etruscan Revival / Neoclassical, ca. 19th century CE. A gorgeous Etruscan revival style necklace of 96% gold (equivalent to 23K+), with 9 intaglios, each a colorful quartzite stone! The intaglios are each etched with a man engaging in domestic and artistic pursuits - playing musical instruments, grinding flour, and archery. The stones are a semi-opaque coloration of blue, red, orange, white, green, yellow, and deep burgundy. All are set in a shaped circular drop setting with an open back, and threaded on the gold chain to rest at the center as an elegant fringe, with alternating 16 tubular gold spacer beads and 7 dangling feather shaped gold pendants. The chain resolves at a hook and loop clasp, making this fully functional and wearable. This incredible antique necklace is inspired by the ancient art of the classical world. Size (necklace): 15.5" L (39.4 cm); (single intaglio w/ finding): 0.75" L x 0.25" W (1.9 cm x 0.6 cm); gold quality: 96% (equivalent to 23K+); weight: 13.3 grams
