Western Europe, England, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE; North America, United States, ca. second half of the 20th century CE. A sweet lamp of a functioning form featuring a seated, right-facing Staffordshire Spaniel. The porcelain pooch sits on its smooth haunches and turns its head towards the viewer to showcase the applied granular coat covering the front half of its body. Golden yellow eyes are outlined with black lining and brows while the peach-hued snout is accentuated with black pigment to form the whiskers, nose, and bottom lip. A gold-hued collar and tag are painted across its neck. The wooden lamp stand, brass lamp arm, and brass American eagle finial are all from the mid-20th century onwards. Lampshade not included. Small chips and abrasions to canine figure, otherwise intact and very good. Nice craquelure to porcelain surfaces. Canine figure secured to lamp base with adhesive. Wiring and lamp component are modern and function as intended.
