North America, United States, ca. 19th century CE. This is a fine meat carving knife with a lengthy steel blade and a cow horn handle. The blade has a single cutting edge that has great signs of age and use as there is a slight curve from sharpening just above the heel. The bolster is quite thick to add balance to the lengthy blade when cutting and the tang is covered with 2 horn panels. These grips are riveted in place and have a slightly curved and rounded butt. This knife is sharp and simple - perfect for carving thin slices. Size: 17.25" L x 1.25" W (43.8 cm x 3.2 cm); (blade): 10.45" L x 1.25" W (26.5 cm x 3.2 cm)
