North America, United States, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, ca. mid-19th century CE. A fascinating family photo album entitled "The Photograph Album" and produced by W.W. Harding, 326 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia - as printed on first page. The lovely album is comprised of a hard cover, dozens of board paper pages with gilt peripheries, and a pair of gilt brass clasps. The mocha-hued cover is intricately adorned with lovely, abstract, geometric decoration, while each page features an ovoid window for inserting photographs. Several of the pages have been filled with black and white photographs of individuals, presumably all from the same family as a way to organize a type of family tree. A previous owner has inscribed the names of some of the sitters in the photographs on a few pages, such as John Robertson, Joseph Robertson, Nicholas Robertson, Agnes Beatty, David Willett, Louise Robertson, and Marry Robertson. Size: 5.3" L x 3" W x 6.1" H (13.5 cm x 7.6 cm x 15.5 cm)
