Antonio Zatta was an Italian cartographer based in Venice. Among his contributions is the "Atlante Novissimo", a four volume atlas of the world published in Venice (1779-1785). It included the most up-to-date travel and exploration accounts as well as the first representation of the new islands explored by the famous Captain Cook. Zatta also published other engravings depicting new discoveries such as, "Nouve scoperte de' Russi al nord' in 1776 presenting a Chinese colony where Vancouver Island is today, as well as "America Settentrionale" in 1780 depicting two straits that join at the middle to form a Strait of Anian or Northwest Passage.
