Northern Europe, Netherlands, South Holland, Rotterdam, ca. 1890 CE. A rare and remarkable glass gin bottle made by A. Van Hoboken & Co. of Rotterdam, Netherlands, unopened and still containing the original gin! Formed from olive green glass, the fascinating bottle presents a square, concave base and cuboid body that gently expands to a wide rounded shoulder, a narrow tubular neck, and a flared rim. The neck and rim are sealed with red wax to preserve the gin, while 2 sides of the vessel are adorned with relief lettering that reads "A VAN HOBOKEN & Co. / ROTTERDAM." A circular stamp with the upside-down letters "HN" adorns the shoulder. The wax seal is also stamped with "A VAN HOBOKEN & Co. / ROTTERDAM," as well as the initials "AW."
