Fredericum de Wit (Dutch, 1630-1706)."Regnorum Castellae Novae, Andalusiae, Granadae Valentiae, et Murciae" copper engraving with hand coloring issued in Amsterdam, late 17th to early 18th century. A finely engraved map with hand coloring, presenting southern Spain with all of Andalusia, Gibraltar, and a fabulous title cartouche featuring three putti and five coats of arms. Frederick de Wit was among the most famous engravers of maps during the second half of the 17th century. The earliest dates on maps that he engraved are 1659 (Regni Daniae) and 1660 (Worldmap). De Wit published a number of world atlases, a sea atlas, as well as an atlas of the Netherlands.
