Native American, Missouri, Oregon, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, Louisiana, Florida, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Illinois, Transitional Paleo to Historic, ca. 8550 BCE to 1850 CE (10,550 to 150 BP). An impressive collection of 17 hand-knapped stone arrowheads exhibiting shades of toffee, caramel, butterscotch, sienna, blue-grey, ash grey, dark grey, and cream and presenting with triangular side notch, triangular stemmed, triangular contracting stem, lanceolate, stemmed lanceolate, triangular expanding stem, triangular auriculate, ovate corner notch, triangular corner notch, and auriculate forms. These wonderful projectile points represent a diverse array of types, including Schugtown, Calapooya, Dickson, Zavala, Ahumada, Leaf River Preform, Leon, Keithville, Briar Creek, Kings, Barber, Geneill, Hickory Ridge, Big Sandy, Agate Basin, and Hempstead. Size of largest: 1.25" W x 3.375" H (3.2 cm x 8.6 cm); Size of frame: 8.875" W x 10.75" H (22.5 cm x 27.3 cm)
Knapped lithics, like these examples, are made using percussion, striking them with other stones; the process required to get them the correct shape requires training and skill.
