Europe, England, Dedington alias Denton, ca. summer 1678. An intriguing vellum document featuring 8 lines of Latin court hand script in black ink that detail a final concord recorded before 4 royal judges, Francis North, John Archer, Hugh Wyndham, and Robert Atkyns. In this agreement, Richard Browne and his wife, Hester, sell a house, 40 acres of land, 2 acres of meadow, 5 acres of pasture, and 10 acres of gorse/furze with appurtenances to Thomas Newton esquire and his heirs for 100 pounds. According to an accompanying letter with the piece, the back of the document is endorsed with the names of the first judge, North, and the plaintiff, Thomas Newton. Size without frame: 15.5" W x 3.5" H (39.4 cm x 8.9 cm); Size: 20.75" W (52.7 cm); 8.5" H (21.6 cm) in included custom frame.
Accompanied with an official letter from medievalist Professor Caroline Barron, Dean of the Graduate School of Royal Holloway University of London, from 17 January 2002, which explains and dates the document.

Condition
Fitted with modern matte and frame. Has not been examined outside of frame. Uneven edges on top and left sides. Expected light fading and wrinkling commensurate with age. Otherwise, excellent.
