Southeast Asia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and southern Vietnam, Khmer Empire, ca. 12th to early 14th century CE. A wonderful stone sculpture of a male figure in a striding pose with sandaled feet atop an integral rectangular plinth. The man presents with his right leg forward and right hip protruding while wearing belted garments, a flowing cloak, several necklaces around his neck, and enormous earrings. Rested upon his right shoulder is a large club with a knob-form pommel. His stylized countenance exhibits heavy-lidded almond eyes, puffy lips, and a pecked 'beard,' all beneath a fringe of curly bangs. There is also an inscription on the base, though it is faint and difficult to read. Size: 12.8" W x 21.25" H (32.5 cm x 54 cm); 23.65" H (60.1 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition
Repaired at lower legs; this is well done and unobtrusive. Left arm, shoulder, and ear are lost as shown as are some other small areas of the cape, item held in the right hand, and face/headdress. However, the piece is overall in nice condition with fine remaining details. Inscription along bottom is present and likely from a later time, although difficult to make out. Light deposits on surface.
