This painting is an intricate abstract Tibetan calligraphy, བླ་མ་བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་ signifying “Lama's Bodhicitta,” which symbolizes the deep reverence and respect we should have for our spiritual teachers and lineage, who play a vital role in guiding us on the spiritual path and help us attain spiritual achievements. It highlights the need for humility, devotion, and sincerity in our spiritual quest and inspires us to seek the guidance of a qualified, kind Lama.
About the Artist:
Anay Ngawang Chodak, born in 1980, is a Tibetan traditional thangka master, an emerging Tibetan contemporary artist, and a devoted Buddhist practitioner. He is a direct descendant of the Repa Dorje Chang lineage, one of Jetsun Milarepa’s yogi disciples. As the artist-in-residence from 2003 to 2021, he dedicated his artistic mastery to one of the most notable and extensive Buddhist projects for His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and Rangjung Neljorma Khandro Kunga Bhuma Rinpoche. After completing the Buddhist project, Anay Ngawang Chodak unfolds a unique contemporary interpretation of his artistic fusion of styles from Newa Paubha, Kashmiri-style Alchi, and Tibetan art. His playful yet mesmerizing spiritual abstractions of the profound and timeless essence of interconnectedness and compassion take a new breath of life to connect with the contemporary audience. He currently lives between Kathmandu, Nepal, and New York City.
