About the Artist:
Tenzin Jigme is a contemporary artist born in Lhasa, Tibet. He works with oil, acrylic, graphic art, mixed media and photography. He studied painting in India and received an MFA from Benares Hindu University in Varanasi. His works merge individual and collective memories of the people in exile, particularly those who have gone through displacement as children.
This work depicts a flower offering scene in Bodh Gaya, India and suggests that the act of offering is open to interpretation. While the recipient of the flowers remains ambiguous, it hints that the gesture can be directed towards anyone with whom one seeks connection. Beyond the traditional connotations of such offerings, this piece emphasizes the desire for connection between people.
