  About the Artist:

  J. Carlos Pinto, a Guatemalan artist based in New York for 12 years, uses recycled materials—especially discarded Metro Cards, glass, and tiles—to create expressive art reflecting his Central American roots and environmental concerns. His work includes abstract painting, mosaics, and folk-inspired crafts like Mayan masks, blending vivid colors with messages on animal rights, minority empowerment, and sustainability. Through his art, Pinto aims to promote a “Green Revolution” and plans public murals in Brooklyn to expand his message of social responsibility.
