Important Russian silver enameled box with hand painted miniature set under glass screen. The painting after Konstantin Makovsky's 1883 work "A Boyar Wedding Feast". Exterior of box has intricate floral multicolor decoration throughout. Two hinged handles which are also highly decorated and enameled. Adorned with cabochon emerald and ruby jewels throughout. Gold wash interior. Holds Ivan P. Khlebnikov Cyrillic workmaster mark with Double headed eagle mark. Anatoli Apollonovich Artsibashev 1889 assayer marks. Postnikova-Loseva town marks. 84 silver purity mark. Weighs approximately 163 troy ounces (5050 grams). Measures 6.5" height x 10.6" length x 8" width (16.5cm x 26.9cm x 20.3cm).
