Wilcox Silver Plate Company (Meriden, Connecticut, founded 1865), circa 1877. A silver plated figural jewelry casket or biscuit barrel, the cylindrical container with engraved floral scene on front of door that opens when arched handle with perched bird with chains in mouth moves back. Interior with remnants of pink silver lining. Supported on X form supports on sides with ball feet. Underside marked with maker's mark with "WILCOX SILVER PLATE CO" surrounding crossed hammers, "QUADRUPLE PLATE" around top and pattern number "1943" above "PATENT APPLIED FOR". Approximate height 11.25", width 6.75", depth 5.5". Provenance: Property from the Braselton Estate, Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Overall very good condition. There is oxidation and wear to the interior lid (see image #10). The silk fabric lining is ripping and fraying. Can be removable if desired (see Image #10).
