Italian, 20th century. Venetian wall mirror with carved and gilt frame with flared leaf tips, shells, scrolling rosettes throughout form with raised hand painted cartouches--top crest with figural scene with mythological figures in garden setting surrounding fountain, other painted elements portraying florals on dark green ground. Four raised rosettes with green centers on paneled mirror or looking glass. Overall approximate height 35.6", width 18".
Mirror frame with two repaired acanthus leaf tips to crest. Some separation at frame corner seams. Some gilt loss principally to edges, crest, and base. Shell at lower right corner with area of wood loss, right acanthus leaf scroll below painting with area of wood loss. No apparent in painting to any cartouche. Mirrors with some oxidation/reflective surface loss to edges, possibly intentional distressing. Structurally stable.
