- Lot Description
Valerie Jaudon (American, b. 1945), "Elevation"-1989, oil on canvas, signed, titled and dated to verso "Valerie Jaudon Elevation 1989". Non-objective optical pattern painting with impasto handling, depicting monochromatic shapes over brilliant red ground, with gallery label to verso "Sidney Janis Gallery New York, NY". Overall unframed approximately 100" x 50". Note: Valeria Jaudon is best known for her Postminimalist compositions as well as the Pattern and Decoration movement of the mid-1970s. Her work is included in the collections of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (Washington D.C.), Museum of Modern Art (New York) and Whitney Museum of American Art (New York), among others.
Condition
Some minor cracking to paint, particularly in white fields where paint is very thick. A few flecks of splattered white paint, likely from making of piece. No other visible signs of damage or repair.
