Utagawa Hiroshige (Japanese, 1797-1858), "Paulownia Plantation at Akasaka (Akasaka Kiribatake)"-1856 (fourth month), color woodblock print published by Uwoei Eikichi as part of the artist's "100 Famous Views of Edo" series. Ukiyo-e print depicting trees along the band of the Tameike pond at Akasaka, view of buildings on opposite side of water, calligraphic marks for publisher, date and artist at lower left and upper right. Framed approximately 19.75" x 15". Sight size approximately 13.5" x 8.9". Note: The artist was born as Ando Hiroshige.
Examined out of the frame. Painting is not laid down, but professionally tacked to upper two corners. Page with allover toning and light foxing apparent to margins. Page exhibiting wrinkles due to handling. One small tear to upper right corner, approximately 3mm long. Color highly pigmented and lines crisp.
