A group of two miniature portraits comprising of one painted on ivory after a portrait hanging in the Louvre of Madame Louise de La Vallière, mistress of Louis XIV of France from 1661 to 1667, depicting the lady standing in a garden in a voluminous blue dress with a white drape and blue hat, inscribed on verso in Italian, likely with name of artist, framed 5.25" x 3.75"; and small painting on porcelain of a young blonde beauty with blue eyes wearing a purple hooded cloak, mounted into a white metal pin, unmarked, 3 3/8" tall x 2 7/8" wide.
Oval portrait with a few scattered scratches—the most prominent and severe on right side of hat crossing into top of hair. Some discoloration to back of porcelain and remnants of adhesive. No damage to frame visible. Rectangular portrait after work in Louvre with scratch to paint layer at right in tree. Minor wear to edges on ivory panel. No other signs of damage loss and repair. Frames fit well on each work.
