French, late 19th/ early 20th century. A collection of two baluster form diminutive cabinet vases, each with a courtly male seated in a landscape painted in the round with a view to opposite side across water. One signed to side "A. Carle", the other signed to side "Karl". Taller vase approximate height 3.5". Provenance: From the Estate of Mary L. Haugk, Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Each with light wear to base and oxidation to metal with commensurate with age and shelf use. Seated man holding book with three areas of enamel loss under rim but visible, back with losses stemming from multiple V fractures, also at bottom with flaring craquelure with small losses. Seated man in bicorne hat with two small specks of silver enamel at left of figure, back with area with craquelure (likely from drop) with hairlines. No other signs of damage, loss or repair.
