Thomas Hart Benton (American, 1889-1975), "The Meeting"-1941, lithograph on paper, pencil signed by artist in lower right margin "Benton". Limited edition figural American Regionalist print published by Associated American Artists depicting a small town hall meeting with citizens seated on wooden benches, many figures disengaged and falling asleep as the main speaker pontificates behind a podium with open mouth and raised hand. Verso with information from the Associated American Artists. Framed approximately 16.25" x 18.75". Sight size approximately 9.5" x 12.25".
Print on paper laid down on illustration board. Visible water damage to lower left corner of mat. Even toning to sheet, evidence of mat burn, foxing throughout--most apparent in lower register, however, some scattered areas on front of image. Illustration board joined to mat with two pieces of hinging tape at top and bottom. No signs of holes, rips or tears.
